Coaching & Mentoring

The training method we use is based on classical English riding with an underpinning of modern horsemanship. The aim here is to have happy horses who willingly perform with their riders. We believe that only happy horses can perform and shine to their maximum capacity.

Introduction to Equitation

Learning to ride may be one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. When starting out, not only do riders discover how to move in harmony with a horse and direct it through the aids of leg, seat, and hand, but they are taught how to be safe on the ground around a horse while grooming, tacking up, and leading.

Dressage

Dressage is a riding discipline that focuses on precision flatwork and derives its name from the French word for ‘training’. Those who practice dressage concentrate on schooling their horses so that they have a foundation of balance, attentiveness, and cooperation. This can then play out in self-carriage of the horse, steady gaits and smooth transitions, and accurate figures in the arena. As a horse and rider progress toward more advanced levels, they can achieve a dance-like quality by bringing out the superlatives of the horse’s natural movements with the almost imperceptible aids of the rider.

Red Earth has a strong emphasis on dressage and all of its instructors are qualified to offer dressage classes.

Show Jumping

In show jumping, the horse and rider must work together to clear a series of fences without balking or knocking the poles down. While a horse may have a natural ability for jumping, it is the rider’s responsibility to place the horse properly for the jump by modulating the pace and approach. While beginners might begin with simple cross rails and verticals of low height to build their confidence and understanding, competition riders here in India can go up to jumping courses of 130 cm if they have the appropriate horse.

Red Earth has several jumping horses and can offer classes for various levels of show jumping.

Natural Horsemanship

Natural horsemanship is a form of human-horse interaction that bases itself on the concept of equine psychology and herd dynamics. Those who practice natural horsemanship focus on forming a strong mode of communication by taking into account the horse’s natural instincts and mimicking the dynamics of a herd through various cues. Natural horsemanship uses groundwork to build the relationship, although one can go on to also pursue many different riding disciplines using the same techniques.

Red Earth can offer classes in natural horsemanship to both established riders and those who have never interacted with horses before.
